A legend in the New York City boxing community, Gleason’s Gym is a giant. Founded in the 1930s by Peter Robert Gagliardi, a flyweight turned bantamweight, the gym drew boxers from across the five boroughs who trained and fought among many of the gyms legendary trainers. When boxing suffered a decline and many of the sports temples shuttered, Gleason’s remained, and stands today as a mecca to the sport on the Brooklyn waterfront. For decades of history and worldwide renown, Gleason’s is by far the best boxing gym in Brooklyn.
